The serrated surface of this grating features small, closely spaced notches that dramatically increase friction underfoot. Unlike plain steel grating, which can become dangerously slick when wet, oily, or icy, the raised edges of the serrations bite into shoe soles, offering exceptional anti-slip performance. This design is especially critical for industrial catwalks, stair treads, and platforms where worker safety is paramount. By reducing the risk of trips and falls, galvanized serrated grating ensures secure footing even in harsh environments. Its effectiveness persists over time, as the galvanized coating does not fill or smooth the serrations, maintaining reliable traction throughout the product's service life.

Hot-dip galvanizing coats the steel grating with a thick, metallurgically bonded layer of zinc. This barrier protects the base steel from moisture, chemicals, and road salts that cause rust. Even if scratched, the zinc sacrifices itself through cathodic protection, preventing corrosion from spreading. As a result, galvanized serrated grating can withstand decades of outdoor or marine exposure with minimal maintenance. Compared to painted or raw steel, it eliminates frequent repainting and replacement costs. This durability makes it ideal for wastewater plants, offshore platforms, and bridge decks. The uniform coating also reaches all inner surfaces of the grating, ensuring complete protection for the entire structure.

The serrated bearing bars are manufactured from high-strength carbon steel, typically with a deep depth and thick cross-section to resist bending. When welded into a grid, the grating distributes point loads across adjacent bars, creating a rigid panel that supports heavy wheel loads or concentrated weights. Despite its strength, the open grid construction removes mass, making the grating lighter than solid steel plates. This combination allows for longer spans between supports and reduces structural steel requirements for framing. Installation is faster and requires less lifting equipment. For industrial flooring, mezzanines, or trench covers, galvanized serrated grating delivers robust performance without unnecessary weight, balancing safety, durability, and economy.
